Types of Doves
While there great numbers of wild doves, this type of bird has also been heavily domesticated, so you can now find many different types of doves even in local bird stores. Doves are a naturally sweet bird and have been found to be easy to train. In fact, they like human contact enough to actually prefer human contact. This makes them an excellent bird to have as a pet. Plus, they have a good deal of intelligence, which makes them easy to train. That would be why you often see doves being used in magic tricks.
There are many different breeds of doves available in the wild and as domesticated creates. Even the more rare breeds of dove can be found throughout the pet industry and definitely through specialty breeders. And little is it known, but doves and pigeons are in the same family of bird. This explains why doves and pigeons are sometimes confused in the wild. They often share very similar features which make them hard to distinguish.
