Plus, they have a natural ability for fantastic aerial acrobatics that make them a true treat to watch in your back yard. Some dove breeders have even hybridized certain types of doves to give them an extra special feather structure for elevate beauty and even improved aerial performance. This is especially significant since it means that you can actually look for a pet dove that has been customized in its breeding to match your particular interests.
Doves do vary greatly in size. So you will want to check with a bird pet store on how big they can grow since it’s usually hard to forecast their size simple from looking at most young doves (squabs). The different breeds of dove feature a wide variety of colors and patterns to choose from. These include a range between long slender body types and the more plump kinds.
It will also come as welcome news to know that they actually don’t have any extremely unique care needs. They will eat a variety of seeds, and a canary food mix will usually do just fine. It’s also important to make sure that they have fresh, clean water at all times.
